TIPS FOR BEAUTIFUL LIPS DURING WINTER

Hey Beauties! :D

Right now in Australia, it's winter and my lips are drying out like the desert. So I did a bit of research and found some ways we can take care of our lips during winter. Keep reading to find out how!

The skin on our lips is a lot thinner than the skin on our bodies, which makes it more sensitive to the cold weather. Our lips also don't contain oil-producing glands, which essentially helps to keep our lips moist. Our lips also don't have hair on them so they aren't protected from the sun.

Ok, so what can we do to protect our lips?
  • Don’t peel or bite flaky skin. Since the skin on our lips is so thin and delicate, by peeling them or biting them can cause it to bleed and hurt. This will slow down the healing process.
  • Don't lick your lips! As your saliva dries, it takes more moisture from your skin.
  • Always use a lip balm! Not just any balm, but one that has beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E, almond, jojoba or coconut oils in the ingredients list.
  • Lip exfoliators are amazing! If you can find a lip exfoliator that contains fruit-acid-based alpha or beta hydroxy acids, you're winning. Just be careful that you don't exfoliate too much, especially if your lips are really dry.
  • Drink lots of water my beauties. Something we all should be doing. I don’t do it as much as my boyfriend wants me to. Sorry Mitch... :P
  • You can also use a ripe cucumber to dap/ rest on your lips! Your lips will be soaking up all the moisture!
  • Try not to wear too many matte lipsticks; they dry out your lips quite a bit.
  • Use lip products with a SPF in them, especially if you are heading outside.
